International Cooperation / Partnerships

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Future University in Egypt (FUE) collaborates with a number of prestigious, highly recognized, international universities. These universities are Nova Southeastern University (NSU), Temple University and Basel University.

The agreements with those universities aim to produce graduates who are qualified to work for major Egyptian and International employers.  It also seeks to build a strong research community that will contribute to international research initiatives, address issues relevant to the Egyptian economy, and help to ensure that Future University attains worldwide recognition.

The collaborations involve:

-          Affiliation, agreement and partnership with pioneer academic and professional institutes for students and faculty staff members, exchange programs and dual-authentication of the degrees awarded.

-          Continuing education or certificate program (onsite/distance education).

-          Short-term clinical pharmacy practical training.

Nova Southeastern University (NSU)

NSU is a non-profit, fully accredited, coeducational institution in the USA. It was founded in 1964 and is well known for innovation and quality in both traditional and distance education. The university serves large numbers of adult students and a growing population of traditional undergraduates. To date, the institution has produced approximately 98,000 alumni.

Using 2006 fall-term enrollment as a measure, Nova Southeastern University is the largest independent institution of higher education in the Southeast and the sixth largest non-profit independent institution nationally in the USA. NSU is one of 169 colleges and universities statewide, and one of 95 independent four-year institutions in Florida.

NSU awards associates, bachelors, masters, specialist, doctoral, and first-professional degrees in a wide range of fields, including the arts and humanities, business, counseling, computer and information sciences, education, medicine, dentistry, various health professions, law, marine sciences, psychology, and other social sciences. It is the only college of optometry in Florida, and one of only two colleges of pharmacy in South Florida. The institution also enjoys an excellent reputation for its programs for families offered through the Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies and the University School. These include innovative parenting, preschool, primary, and secondary education programs.

Temple University

Temple College was founded in 1884 by Dr. Russell Conwell. The name was changed to Temple University in 1907.

As a comprehensive public research university, its 34,000 students can choose from 8 campuses and 300 academic degree programs including:

• 2 associate degree programs (Horticulture and General Studies)
• 125 bachelors programs
• 113 masters programs
• 52 doctoral programs
• 8 first-professional degree programs dentistry, law, medicine, pharmacy, and podiatric medicine

Its 186-acre campus in suburban Ambler offers programs in community and regional planning, horticulture, landscape architecture and others.

They have a large and robust study abroad program with campuses in Rome and Tokyo, programs in London, Beijing, Paris, Mumbai and other sites. President Dr. Hart and her husband fund a scholarship program to pay for first-year students passport fees.

The University of Basel

The University of Basel is a full university with 7 faculties and over 70 institutes. 2010 is for the University of Basel a special year. Sie feiert ihren 550. The University contains a number of various colleges and institutes including The Institute Of Pharmaceutical Technology which emphasizes industrial pharmacy.

Future University has already executed those agreements where a number of seminars, courses and workshops have been conducted in cooperation with the three universities. Both students and the staff of the pharmacy faculty in the FUE has participated and made use of such beneficial activities.

The first step in the student exchange program will take place in the summer of 2009 where the first group of the FUE students will be sent to NOVA Southeastern University for summer training while the top two students with regard to their GPAs will be sent to Basel University.
